The woman found Friday lying on the ground without life signs near the intersection of French Drive and Sanger Street in Hobbs has been identified as 19-year-old Delilah Nicole Ybarra, according to an updated Hobbs Police Department press release. Ybarra was a resident of Hobbs.

Next of kin have been notified, and an outpouring of condolences for the victim’s family can be found on the HPD Facebook page.

When Hobbs Police Department (HPD) officers responded to the incident on Friday, October 28, they “…discovered the subject had been fatally struck by a vehicle,” states the press release.

HPD has not located the vehicle that allegedly was involved in the incident. However, the updated press release states that officers are looking for “…a black Nissan Rogue with heavy front end damage.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the HPD at (575) 397-9265 or Lea County Crime Stoppers at (575) 393-8005. Private messages can also be sent to the HPD on its Facebook page. The public’s help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
